Original 1977 - Burnt Offerings - UK Quad Poster
Original UK Quad Poster ā United Artists
Format: UK Quad (30 x 40 in)
Country: United Kingdom
Distributor: United Artists
Certificate: A
Year of Issue: 1977
This is an original UK quad for Burnt Offerings, the supernatural horror film directed by Dan Curtis (best known for Dark Shadows) and starring Oliver Reed, Karen Black, Burgess Meredith, Eileen Heckart, Lee Montgomery, and Bette Davis. UK quads for this title are increasingly collectible as 1970s horror posters have risen sharply in demand, and Burnt Offerings enjoys a cult reputation as one of the decadeās most atmospheric haunted-house films.
The layout is split into two stark halvesāone oppressive and foreboding, the other bright and luridācreating a striking contrast typical of 1970s horror marketing.
A beautifully rendered charcoal-like illustration of the decaying mansion, the true antagonist of the film.
Light emanates eerily from a single upstairs window, framed by darkness and overgrown vinesācapturing the filmās themes of isolation and malign presence.
Heavy shadows, tilted rooflines, and scratchy textures give the illustration a gothic, unsettling quality, reminiscent of classic paperback horror cover art.
A bright yellow starburst states:
āSELECTED BEST HORROR FILM OF THE YEAR!
BY THE ACADEMY OF SCIENCE FICTION, FANTASY AND HORROR FILMSā
This award citation adds a strong marketing hook and enhances collectability.
Bold yellow panel featuring one of the great 1970s horror taglines:
āUp the ancient stairs, behind the locked door, something lives, something evil, from which no one has ever returned.ā
This alone makes the quad highly displayable.
The title BURNT OFFERINGS appears carved into a stone-textured plaque surrounded by creeping vinesāsymbolic of the house itself feeding on those who enter.
Full cast and crew credits appear below, including Bette Davisās later-career scene-stealing role.
This quad is desirable for several reasons:
Burnt Offerings has gained a strong cult following over the past 20 years, especially among fans of:
haunted house cinema
psychological 70s horror
Dan Curtis productions
Bette Davisās genre roles
The illustrated house, award burst, and bright colour blocking differ from the U.S. one-sheet, making the quad far more visually engaging and thus more collectible.
United Artists distributed this film on a moderate scale in the UK, meaning original quads surface far less frequently than many mainstream 1977 titles.
Posters for horror films between 1971ā1981 have shown some of the strongest appreciation in the entire vintage poster market.
Original 1970s quad folds visible (as issued).
Listed in Very Fine condition.
Minimal fold wear and crease stress.
No tears, writing, tape stains, or significant border damage visible.
Colours remain vivid, especially the signature yellow panel.
Artwork is crisp with no fading.
