Original 1997 Stereophonics - Official Commercial Poster
A superb early Stereophonics poster from 1997, capturing the original line-up of Kelly Jones, Richard Jones and Stuart Cable right at the beginning of the band’s rise.
The stark black-and-white photograph shows the trio beneath the Cwmneol Street sign in their native South Wales — a wonderfully gritty image that perfectly reflects the working-class Welsh identity running through their early music. Contemporary photography from 1997 similarly placed the original trio around their hometown of Cwmaman during the period surrounding their debut album Word Gets Around.
1997 was the breakthrough year: Word Gets Around arrived that summer and reached No. 6 on the UK Albums Chart, establishing Stereophonics as one of the major new British rock bands of the late ’90s.
The small-print credit visible along the bottom identifies this as a commercially produced poster, rather than a modern reproduction — a genuine period piece from the band’s earliest and most collectable era.
Raw, unmistakably Welsh and brilliantly ’90s — an excellent original Stereophonics poster featuring the classic three-man line-up before superstardom arrived.
