The Antichrist (1974) – Original UK Quad Poster – First Release X Certificate – Rare 1970s Euro-Horror
A striking, fevered vision from the height of Euro-horror, presented in its definitive UK theatrical format.
This is an original 1974 UK Quad for The Antichrist, Alberto De Martino’s notorious Italian possession shocker — one of the fiercest and most stylish entries in the post-Exorcist wave of occult cinema. Issued exclusively for the film’s British theatrical run, this first-release Quad carries the bold X certificate, befitting the film’s reputation for graphic intensity and psychological extremity.
Designed with a stark, modernist brutality, the poster is dominated by its unforgettable diagonal typography, the blazing red flame motif, and the aggressive marketing hook:
“Don’t say you’re SHOCKPROOF until you’ve seen… The Antichrist.”
This layout — part grindhouse bravado, part avant-garde design — makes it one of the most visually unique Quads of the 1970s Euro-horror cycle.
Printed by W.E. Berry Ltd, this is the authentic UK cinema-issued paper, not a later reprint or video-promo variant. The deep-black background combined with the high-contrast red and white elements is notoriously prone to wear, making clean examples increasingly hard to source.
